NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jackalopes score late to win season opener

BLAINE, MINN. The Odessa Jackalopes kicked off the 2022-23 season with a 2-1 victory against the New Jersey Titans on the first day of competition at the North American Hockey League’s annual showcase at the Schwan Super Rink,,

Logan Ganz and Taynon Bajzer each scored for the Jackalopes, with Jackson Hay finishing with one assist.

Goalkeeper Quentin Sigurdson stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced.

Blake Ferrell opened the scoring for New Jersey just 52 seconds into the second period.

Ganz tied it up at the 11:21 mark of the period and then Bajzer buried a power-play marker with 58 seconds remaining in regulation for the game winner.

Odessa is back in action against the Aberdeen Wings at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the second of four games at the Showcase.
