HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Odessa High, Permian boys and girls set to start seasons

The Odessa High and Permian boys and girls soccer teams open their 2019 campaigns today in tournament play around Texas.
The Bronchos are competing in the Frenship Tournament and face El Paso Pebble Hills at 8 tonight in Wolfforth. Odessa High meets Borger at 4 on Friday before moving into bracket play Saturday.
The Panthers are in Temple for the Temple Wildcat Tournament and meet Smithson Valley at 8 tonight at Wildcat Stadium. Permian plays twice Friday, against host Temple at noon and then against China Spring at 6, to determine its spot in the bracket Saturday.
The Lady Bronchos are at the National Prep Elite Tournament in the Metroplex and start their season against St. Stephen’s at 5 tonight at Gateway Park in Fort Worth.
Games against Grapevine at 8 a.m. at Dragon Stadium in Southlake, and against Plano West at 6 p.m. back in Fort Worth, highlight Friday’s play, with a game against Bishop Lynch at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gateway Park capping the weekend.
The Lady Panthers also are in the Metroplex at the Richland Winter Blast, getting things started against Abilene Cooper at 5 today at Richland High School.
Friday’s matchups feature Colleyville Heritage at 11 a.m., and then Kellar Central at 6:30 p.m., at the Old Birdville Field.
The tournament moves into bracket play Saturday.
