COLLEGE SOFTBALL: UTPB swept at home in season finale

The UTPB softball team was swept by Texas A&M-Kingsville in its final home doubleheader of the regular season Saturday in Lone Star Conference play at UTPB Field.
The Falcons (10-39 overall, 3-27 conference) were shut out 7-0 in Game 1 before falling 11-1 in five innings in the finale.
The Javelinas (41-8, 24-6) got off to a good start in the first game with a solo home run from Anastasia Leibas in the top of the first.
That was all pitcher Saidi Castillo needed as she finished the game giving just two hits and striking out eight.
Texas A&M-Kingsville got off to another hot start in the second game, scoring three runs in both the first and second innings to pull away.
The only run the Falcons scored on the afternoon came on a solo home run by Choco Munoz in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Texas A&M-Kingsville will be the No. 1 seed and have home field advantage next week for the Lone Star Conference Championships, while UTPB heads into the offseason.
