HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Workman named District 2-6A MVP

Permian’s Jade Workman was named this year’s District 2-6A MVP as the All-District team was announced this week.

Permian’s Mylah Arzaga was named to First Team All-District Bridgit Smithee was named to Second Team All-District.

San Angelo Central’s Journi Jones was named the district’s Outstanding Setter while her teammate Emilee Sikora was awarded the Outstanding Hitter.

Wolfforth Frenship’s Jaycee Garza was named the Outstanding Defensive Specialist while Midland Legacy’s Sarah Philey was named Outstanding Blocker. Frenship’s Bliss Dane earned Newcomer of the Year.

The District 2-6A coaches of the year were San Angelo Central’s Julie Williams and Wolfforth Frenship’s Amy Mangum.

The Lady Panthers finished the season with a 24-14 overall record, losing to El Paso Coronado in the bi-district round last week at Coronado High School.

Odessa High’s Clarissa Rodriguez was named to First Team All-District while Isabela Ordaz and Zoelley Herrera made Second Team.
