HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS: Permian, Odessa High close out state meet optional round

ROCKWALL Gymnasts from Permian and Odessa High finished the optional round of the 2022 Texas High School Gymnastics State Championships Friday at Rockwall High School.

The Permian boys team scored 294.95 points to finished 10th after 139.75 points Friday.

Sincere Galindo led the Panthers, scoring 104.35 points to finish 12th in the all around. He finished eighth on floor exercise with a two-day score of 17.95.

Odessa High’s Jabezz Chavez finished 16th in the all-around with 102.15 points, while Jesse Hernandez was 32nd at 86 points.

Chavez was 13th in the floor exercise after recording a 17.80 and Permian’s Wesley Brown tied for 11th in the parallel bar event with an 18.10 score.

Permian’s Isabella Fanucci and Sydney Vaughn didn’t finish their optional round by press time.

The state meet will officially end Saturday, with the final competition starting after a grand march in at 10:30 a.m. at Rockwall High School.
