HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Andrews boys win regionals

LUBBOCK The Andrews boys golf team clinched a spot in the state championship tournament by winning the Region I-4A tournament Thursday in Lubbock.
The Mustangs shot 299-296—595 as a team to clinch the top spot while Canyon Randall went 304-293—597 to finish second and Brownwood went 305-307—612 to take third.
Andrews was led by Jorge Molinar who went 72-70—142 to finish second overall as an individual.
Jack Burgen shot 74-72—146 while Tucker Smith went 75-76—151 and Miken Hernandez shot 78 in both rounds to finish with a score of 156.
Maddix Valenzuela went 83-82—165.
Randall’s Wyatt Provence shot 71-79—140 to take first as an individual.
The state championships will take place from May 22-23 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.
