HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Permian secures playoff spot with win over Midland High

MIDLAND The Permian football team clinched a spot in the playoffs after defeating Midland High 21-14 Friday at Astound Broadband Stadium.

With the win, the Panthers moved to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in District 2-6A, securing a spot in the top four.

Odessa High, which lost to Midland Legacy in a 32-21 contest at Ratliff Stadium, ended up missing a playoff spot as the Bronchos (5-4, 2-3) finished fifth in the District 2-6A standings.

Despite the loss, Midland High (8-2, 3-2) clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

The Panthers led throughout the game, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before holding off the Bulldogs in the second half.
