The Permian and Odessa High football teams had players land spots on the All-District 2-6A first and second team as the 2021 season comes to a close.
Midland Legacy and Permian, the district’s final two teams remaining in the Class 6A Division I playoffs, were eliminated over the weekend in the area round.
Permian’s Tristan Johnson, Jaquan Richardson, Harris Sewell and Cooper Sheehan were named first-team selections on offense along with Odessa High’s Ivan Carreon.
Midland Legacy’s Makhilyn Young and Clint Hartman took home some of the top superlatives, with Young being named District MVP and Hartman claiming the Coach of the Year title.
The Panthers were well-represented on the first team defense, with Desmond Hill, Daveon Walucho, Jaxon Dorethy, Corey McCoy and Kayden Baze garnering honors.
Sewell, Walucho and McCoy were all unanimous first team selections.
Permian’s Tate Terry and Cade Kreger were second team honorees at kicker and punter, joining teammates Andrew Helguera, Drake Womack, Cayden Charnik and Bryce Woody.
Odessa High’s Da’Mareon Gray and Elias Minjarez were also named to the second team defense.
Both Ector County ISD schools had a combined 19 players named honorable mentions, including Odessa High quarterback Diego Cervantes and Permian quarterback Rodney Hall.
