HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Strong finish leads Panthers to bi-district round win

EL PASO A dominant fourth quarter helped the Permian boys basketball team start its postseason push on the right foot.

The Panthers came away with a 47-35 win over El Paso Franklin in their Class 6A bi-district round playoff game at Franklin High School.

After trailing by one point through three quarters, Permian outscored the Cougars 14-1 in the game’s final period with Calvione Calicutt and Tremayne Baty combining for 10 of those points.

Race Herr was Permian’s leading scorer with 14 points, followed by Jamobrione Anderson with 13 and Calicutt with 11.

The Panthers (25-8 overall) advanced to face Keller in the area round, with details of that matchup still being finalized.
