HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Permian, Odessa High with key district doubleheaders

Permian’s girls and boys basketball teams host Wolfforth Frenship in key District 2-6A games Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.

The girls game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers (11-1 overall, 1-3 in district) need a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive as they hit the district halfway point.

The Panthers (14-8, 1-1) will try to make it two in a row after defeating San Angelo Central Tuesday on the road.

Road trip

Odessa High’s basketball teams continue their drive for the postseason when they travel to face Midland Legacy in District 2-6A play.

The Lady Bronchos (17-12 overall, 3-1 in district) will take on the Lady Rebels at 6 p.m.

Odessa High defeated Midland High Tuesday as senior forward Deoshanay Henderson eclipsed 1,000 points for her career.

The Bronchos (15-11, 0-2), set for a 7:30 p.m. start, look to work their way into the win column after facing the top two teams (Wolfforth Frenship, Midland High) to open district play.
