HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Odessa High, Permian set for key matchup

The Odessa High boys and girls basketball teams travel to face crosstown rival Permian in District 2-6A play Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.

The girls game is scheduled for a 6 p.m., start, followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.

It is a must-win game for the host Lady Panthers (11-13 overall, 1-5 in district) in order to stay in playoff contention.

The Lady Bronchos (18-13, 4-2) can go a long way toward clinching a postseason berth with a victory, which would complete a sweep of the season series.

This is the first meeting of the season for the boys teams, with both squads looking to solidify their spot in the standings as the first half of district play comes to an end.

The Bronchos (17-11, 2-2) and Panthers (15-9, 2-2) are tied for third, along with San Angelo Central (19-6, 2-2).
