HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bronchos set playoff game; Panthers qualify

The Odessa High boys basketball team will play a home game in the bi-district round of the 2023 Class 6A playoffs.

The Bronchos (21-13 overall) will host El Paso Coronado at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the OHS Fieldhouse.

Odessa High finished second in District 2-6A after a victory Tuesday at San Angelo Central.

Permian (19-12) also qualified for the postseason by virtue of its 68-66 victory against San Angelo Central in a play-in game Thursday at Stanton.

The Panthers will play Midland High at 6 p.m. Friday at Stanton for playoff seeding.

A victory by Midland High and Permian is the No. 4 seed from the district.

Should the Panthers win, they would be the No. 3 seed and Midland High and San Angelo Central would play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stanton to determine the final playoff spot.

El Paso Franklin and El Paso Eastwood tied for the District 1-6A regular-season title and are playing a seeding game Friday at 6 p.m. at El Paso Bowie.

Both the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds from District 2-6A will travel to El Paso for the bi-district round.
