HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Panthers surge late to defeat Midland High

MIDLAND After recording two hits through nine innings of action, the Permian baseball team was boosted late to defeat Midland High 5-2 in 10 innings.

The score was tied 2-2 in the District 2-6A contest before an RBI double from Xavier Melendez scored Sebastian Bravo in the top of the 10th.

Caleb Boswell tripled to left field, bringing in Jake Glasman and Hayden Abbott for insurance runs before sealing the win with quick defensive plays in the bottom of the frame.

Boswell led the Panthers (19-3 overall, 8-0 district) with four RBIs, while Cooper Golden struck out 10 batters.

The teams will close out their three-game series at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCanlies Field.
