HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Andrews falls to Argyle in series opener

ABILENE The Andrews baseball team will have to try and rally to keep its season alive after falling 5-0 to Argyle in Game 1 of a regional semifinal series Friday at Abilene Christian’s Crutcher Scott Field.

The Mustangs (24-13-2 overall) were held to just four hits while Argyle took an early lead it did not relinquish. Clay Manning struck out four in a complete-game effort for the Mustangs, while Trevor Duck struck out six for Argyle (28-9) in his 4.2 innings of work.

Cody Cabrera and Brock Tijerina led Andrews offensively with two hits each.

Game 2 is scheduled for noon Saturday back at Crutcher Scott Field with a third game 30 minutes following, if necessary.
