HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Andrews cruises past San Elizario to reach Class 4A area round

FORT STOCKTON The Andrews baseball team defeated San Elizario 19-0 Saturday to win their Class 4A bi-district round series, building off a 22-0 victory Friday.

Andrews went up 3-0 in the top of the first inning when Brock Tijerina, Gehrig Morris and Aidyn Olivas reached home plate.

The Mustangs then took complete control of the game by scoring 15 runs in the top of the third.

An RBI single from Diego Macias that drove in Max Bartmann would be the last score the Mustangs put up, cruising to the second round of the playoffs.

Auden Bustamante and Brycen Diaz pitched for Andrews, with Bustamante recording six strikeouts and allowing one hit.

Multiple players tied for the team lead in RBIs, with Clay Manning, Zeke Rivera, Cooper Ivison, EJ Lopez, Caleb Palma, Tijerina and Macias recording two each.

The Mustangs (20-6 overall) will face Snyder in a best-of-three series in the Class 4A area round, starting at 6 p.m. May 13 at Moegle Field in Lubbock.
