GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Lady Panthers place second at District 2-6A Championships

SAN ANGELO The Permian girls golf team carded rounds of 336-333—668 to finish second at the District 2-6A Championships Monday and Tuesday at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo.

The Lady Panthers were five shots behind district champion Midland Legacy (328-335—663), as both teams advanced to the Region I-6A Tournament April 20-21 at Tangle Ridge Golf Course in Arlington.

Sarah Reed of Midland Legacy (72-71—143) earned medalist honors, with San Angelo Central’s Ryann Honea (72-77—149) and Emily Coronado (75-76—151) finishing second and third to earn the individual spots at the regional tournament.

Permian’s Angela Aguirre (81-80—161) was fourth, Isabella Segura (80-84—164) was fifth and Ella Veretto (85-85—170) finished tied for sixth to pace the Lady Panthers, who watched teammate Daniella Muniz record a hole in one during Monday’s first round.

Odessa High (416-423—839) finished sixth.
