Permian girls basketball coach Keshia Collins knew the Lady Panthers had their hands full hosting Wolfforth Frenship in District 2-6A play.
The Lady Tigers proved to be everything, and more, that Collins feared.
Taking control of the game early, Wolfforth Frenship ran away to a 64-40 victory Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.
Elena Noyola had a game-high 11 points to pace the Lady Tigers (13-4 overall, 2-0 in district), with Abbi Holder adding nine points to the victory.
Bailey Wight and Jamie Redic each had nine points to lead Permian (3-9, 1-1).
“Frenship is a well-coached team,” Collins said. “We had too many turnovers and a team as good as Frenship is going to make you pay for those mistakes.”
Noyola scored eight of her team’s first 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers midway through the first quarter that helped the visitors build a 20-7 lead after eight minutes of play.
It was more of the same in the second quarter as Wolfforth Frenship added 19 points to its total, with just two 3-pointers breaking the Lady Tigers’ inside effort.
Wolfforth Frenship led 39-17 at halftime and cruised the rest of the way.
Permian now will host crosstown rival Odessa High at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Permian Fieldhouse.
