MONAHANS The Monahans girls basketball team fell by a 43-21 score against Greenwood in District 2-4A play Tuesday.
Greenwood built up a big lead throughout the first half and held a 19-6 advantage at the halftime break.
Monahans couldn’t come up with an answer in the second half, as they were outscored 24-15 through the third and fourth quarters.
Greenwood’s Karsyn Payton led all scorers with 21 points, while Emma Dunn had 10 points.
Sydney Vasquez and Jade Munoz paced Monahans with five points each in the contest.
Monahans (12-15 overall, 1-1 district) will continue regular season play against Pecos at 6 p.m. Friday in Pecos, while Greenwood (11-2, 2-0) will play Fort Stockton at 6 p.m. Friday in Midland.
