GRAND PRAIRIE The Odessa College Wranglers open play at the NJCAA Region V Tournament against Cisco College at 1 p.m. Friday at AirHog Stadium.
Odessa College (33-23) qualified as the fourth seed out of the WJCAC, while Cisco (49-6) won the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. Cisco, ranked No. 5 in the nation, swept a doubleheader against the Wranglers on March 3, winning 8-7 and 9-6.
Also competing in the double-elimination tourney are New Mexico Junior College, Howard College and Midland College of the WJCAC, and McLennan Community College, Grayson College and Temple College of the NTJCAC.
The first game of the championship round is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday with the if-necessary game at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The tournament champion advances to the NJCAA World Series, scheduled for May 26-June 2 at Grand Junction, Colo.
