WEATHERFORD The Odessa College volleyball team advanced to the Region 5 championship after defeating New Mexico Military Institute in four sets Thursday in the semifinals.
The Lady Wranglers (27-5) won by scores of 11-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 and will play at 7 p.m. Friday for a chance to clinch a spot at the NJCAA tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
Odessa College will face the winner of Weatherford College and New Mexico Junior College who were playing in the other semifinal on Thursday night.
Thursday’s win was the first time in this season that the Lady Wranglers defeated New Mexico Military Institute, having lost the previous two meetings during the regular season.
Earlier in the day, the Lady Wranglers defeated North Central Texas College in straight sets, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 to advance to the semis.
