COLLEGE TENNIS: UTPB’s Anderson announces retirement

UTPB head tennis coach Stan Anderson has announced his retirement, according to a press release from the university Tuesday.

Anderson had coached at UTPB for two years.

He took over at UTPB in 2020 after coaching at El Paso Eastwood for 25 years.

Anderson’s time at UTPB included turning around the women’s program which only four matches in 2021 before winning nine in 2022 and reaching the Lone Star Conference playoffs by winning their final two matches of the year.

The men’s team made it to the postseason in each of his two seasons, winning 13 dual matches.

The release stated that a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately and that Steve Buck will take over the program as the interim head coach.
