COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Falcons fall in conference opener

SAN ANGELO The UTPB softball team began Lone Star Conference play on a rough note, losing to Angelo State 9-1 Tuesday on the road.

The Falcons (3-7 overall, 0-1 in Lone Star Conference) gave up five runs in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the second inning.

Angelo State scored two more runs in the fourth.

UTPB’s lone run came in the top of the fifth inning.

Angelo State (13-1, 4-0) had eight hits and no errors while the Falcons had three hits and one error.

Cheyenne Floyd was the winning pitcher for the Rambelles while Morgan McGaugh took the loss in the circle for the Falcons.

Both teams will meet again in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
