COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB’s Kelly named LSC Defensive Player of the Week

UTPB linebacker Hayden Kelly was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

This is the third consecutive week that a UTPB player has earned one of the awards.

Kelly was named for the second time in his career.

Kelly had 13 solo tackles with an assist for 14 total tackles and added two tackles for a loss in the Falcons’ 21-13 win over Midwestern State Saturday in Wichita Falls.

UTPB (5-1, overall, 3-0 in conference) remains tied for first place in the Lone Star Conference standings with Central Washington (4-2, 4-0).

Central Washington running back Tyler Flanagan was named the Offensive Player of the Week while his teammate kicker Josh Jones was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Falcons will be back at home this week when they face Eastern New Mexico (3-3, 1-3) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
