COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB in fourth place in Super Region standings

The UTPB football team remains in a good position for a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs as the Falcons currently sit in fourth place in this week’s Super Region Four standings.

The top seven teams in each of the four super regions qualify for a spot in the playoffs.

UTPB (9-1 overall, 7-0 in the Lone Star Conference) is currently ahead of fifth place Bemidji State (8-1), Augustana (9-1) and Minnesota State Mankato (9-1).

The Falcons will face Central Washington (7-2, 7-0) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland for the Lone Star Conference title.

Central Washington is currently third in the region.

Only the overall Division II records from each team are counted for when it comes to regional rankings as both of Central Washington’s losses this season have come against non-division II schools.

The eighth, ninth and tenth place schools in Super Region Four have three losses.
