COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Tough night for Falcons on the road

SAN ANGELO The UTPB football team fell behind early and never recovered in a 34-14 loss to Angelo State in Lone Star Conference play Saturday at LeGrand Stadium.

Wide receiver MJ Link had six catches for a career-high 157 yards and one touchdown, while defensive back D’Ondre Robinson finished with a career-high 18 tackles on the night.

The host Rams jumped out to a 13-0 lead after returning an interception for a touchdown with 1:56 remaining to play in the first quarter.

Link then hauled in a 62-yard scoring toss from Falcons quarterback Clayton Roberts just 66 seconds later to cut into the lead.

That was as close as UTPB (4-2 overall, 2-1 in conference) would get as Angelo State (5-2, 2-2) scored 21 unanswered points to break the game open.
