COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Falcons picked to finish seventh in LSC preseason poll

The UTPB football team was picked to finish seventh in this year’s Lone Star Conference preseason poll, which was released Thursday.

The Falcons are entering the 2023 season under new head coach Kris McCullough who is the second coach in UTPB’s eight-year history.

Defending Lone Star Conference champion Angelo State was picked to repeat while Central Washington was picked to finish second, followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville, Midwestern State and West Texas A&M, to round out the top five.

Western Oregon was picked to finish sixth and Eastern New Mexico was picked behind UTPB at eighth and Western New Mexico at ninth.

UTPB is coming off a 5-6 overall record (4-5 in conference) from last year.

The Falcons will kick off the season at home against Texas College on Sept. 2 at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
