COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Odessa College set for some TV time after victories

Chandler Cuthrell scored 17 points to lead Odessa College to a 92-75 victory against Frank Phillips College on Thursday at the OC Sports Center.

Dontrell Hewlett and Darrell Armstrong each finished with 14 points, with Dian Wright-Forde adding 12 to the victory.

The Wranglers improved to 19-1 overall, 6-0 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.

They have won 30 consecutive conference games and will put that streak on the line against South Plains College at 3:45 p.m. Saturday in Levelland.

The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.

The Texans are the last team to defeat Odessa College in conference play, winning 96-93 in overtime on March 4, 2021, in Levelland.

Chris Mpaka scored a game-high 23 points to lead Frank Phillips (9-10, 1-5) with Malquan Collins adding 18 points in the loss.

Nahawa Diarra Berthe scored 17 points and Isamery Agramonte added 16 top lead the Odessa College women’s basketball team to a 73-70 victory against Frank Phillips College on Thursday at the OC Sports Center.

The Lady Wraglers improved to 10-6 overall, 3-2 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.

Aurore Eyango and Xoe Rosalez each scored 17 points for Frank Phillips (10-11, 1-4), while Terese Mbemba added 10 points in the loss.

Odessa College travels to face conference-leading South Plains College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Levelland.
