Wranglers hang on to win
Dontrell Hewlett scored 18 points to lead Odessa College to a 78-72 victory against South Plains College Monday at the OC Sports Center
Dian Wright-Forde added 16 points and Kiree Huie finished with 10 in the victory for the third-ranked Wanglers.
Odessa College improved to 27-2 overall, 14-1 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.
Ismail Habib scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Texans (22-7, 10-5), who chipped away at the Wranglers’ lead from the free throw line in the final minutes.
Christian Coleman added 14 points, with Kalifa Sakho finishing with 11 in the loss.
Odessa College closes out the regular season against Howard College at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the OC Sports Center.
Lady Wranglers
The Odessa College women’s basketball team took control in the opening quarter and never looked back in a 61-46 victory against South Plains College Monday on the OC Sports Center.
Ivana Krajina scored a game-high 19 points, with Khaniah Garner adding 10 points in the victory.
The Lady Wranglers improved to 16-8 overall, 9-4 in WJCAC action.
They held a 19-11 lead after 10 minutes and pushed that to 30-24 at halftime.
Vitoria Carvalho scored 12 points to lead the South Plains (17-9, 11-2), with Celia Sumbane finishing with 11.
The Lady Wranglers host Howard College at 5:45 p.m. Thursday to close out the regular season.
