COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Odessa College able to fend of threat from Howard College

The Odessa College men’s basketball team was able to hang on for a 90-85 victory against Howard College Thursday at the OC Sports Center.

Marcus Banks led the third-ranked Wranglers (28-2 overall, 15-1 in WJCAC) with 14 points.

Dian Wright-Forde added 13, Dontrell Hewlett finished with 11 and Kiree Huie chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds to the victory.

Lorenzo Fort scored a game-high 41 points to lead the Hawks (19-11, 9-7), the second time this season he has scored 41 against Odessa College.

Deng Mayar had 14 points, Dontae Horne added 13 and Kwo Agwa finished with 11 in the loss.

The Wranglers are the WJCAC’s top seed in next week’s Region V Tournament at the Tiger Pit at Wolfforth Frenship High School.
