COLLEGE BASEBALL: Wranglers secure series split with Howard College

BIG SPRING After falling in the first game of its doubleheader against Howard College, the Odessa College baseball team bounced back to secure a split of their Western Junior College Athletic Conference series Saturday on the road.

Howard College won the first game 11-10, with Odessa College securing a 14-12 victory in the second contest.

The teams split a Friday doubleheader going into the final day of their series.

The score was tied 10-10 heading into eighth inning, where the Hawks took control to win the first game.

With loaded bases, Kade Yasui advanced to home plate after Lee Matsuzaki was hit by a pitch.

A four-RBI game from Chase Diggins helped the Wranglers win Game 2, holding on despite allowing five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Odessa College (18-13 overall, 6-6 conference) will host a doubleheader against Midland College starting at noon Friday at Wrangler Field.
