Steven Flores, an assistant for the Permian boys basketball program, has been promoted to guide the Panthers’ program, Ector County ISD Executive Director of Athletics Tracey Borchardt confirmed Friday.
Flores was an assistant for previous head coach Tim Thomas and has previous head coaching experience at Kermit, where he led the Yellowjackets to three straight appearances in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals from 2014-2016.
Permian finished 19-6 and won a bi-district title during the 2020-21 season.
