VILLATORO: Why we, the church, do what we do

By Rev. Gian Carlo Villatoro

Founding Pastor, Victory Church Odessa

First, we get together to worship our Lord Jesus.

Praying, singing, reading the Bible, teaching, preaching, having fellowship, giving money, sharing, and helping. We all do that formally once a week in our sanctuaries with the main objective of exalting our Lord God.

Second, we reach out to everyone who is not part of the church through evangelism.

Third, we work on the discipleship process for each church member, to see him/her becoming a mature believer. Every action of our churches should go mainly in that direction. Of course, we do have programs to help materially, financially, and educationally for those who can’t afford it. But, those programs are on a second level.

Every mature believer who has received the proper discipleship should be able to be self-sufficient spiritually, emotionally, and materially. However, the work of a pastor will never be completed because everyone goes through seasons where they need special support and guidance. In today’s world, we can provide everyone via the Internet with a tremendous tool to accomplish the church’s mission: Websites. It is my honor to present to you our updated site: vchurch.us
