NUGGETS: Looking forward

By Jannie Linney

It’s Hard to believe another year has come and gone. It seems as though it was only yesterday that I trained myself to write 2021 on everything and now it starts all over again with 2022.

I believe the year 2022 will be a “Good Year for You!”

As I was reflecting on what this past year had been, What had been done in this past year that was worthwhile and would remain for all eternity. Then I thought of the verse, “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become manifest; for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss;” [1 Cor. 3: 11-15 A]. That scripture makes it pretty clear, that what we do with our life and time is very important. The One we live with in this life is the one we will live with for all eternity, who we serve here on earth we will serve for all eternity.

It’s a good time to look back and see if what we did this past year would burn up in the heavenly fire or did we do some building with the gold, silver and precious stones. Now you know I’m talking about eternal things. Like what kind of an example did we set for those around us. Who did we talk to about Jesus. Did we Tithe to keep the church going, or just tip God on Sunday morning, did we give above our tithe so that God’s Covenant can be established ? Did we give Alms to help someone less fortunate than ourselves? Paul talked about being a pattern that someone else could live their lives by. He mentioned “Do all things to glorify God.” Could Jesus be a part of what we entertain ourselves with? Could He watch the programs we watched on TV?

As we began this next year, what is our projected plan? I pray, as we make plans for this next year, we will not make new resolutions, but we will make new commitments, commitments and dedications to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He said” seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added [Matt. 6: 33]. As the end draws near in these last days we are going to find that The Lord is our only real help in times of trouble. Let us reflect and invest in those things that are everlasting.

There may be someone reading this that does not Know Jesus. I’m not talking about knowing about Jesus, but having a personal relationship with Him. He said “My sheep hear my voice and will follow no other” You can start fresh in this “New Year” with a Brand new life, if you invite Jesus to be Your Savior and the Lord of your Life. Just say, “Jesus I know I’m a sinner, I’m so sorry about all my past, please forgive me and come into my heart. Help me live like you want me to live. I don’t know how but I know you will help me! —- If you said that and really believe, this will be the greatest year you ever had! Trust Him to help you. Then you can start a new life, “Looking Forward”
