As is most verses we cannot begin to expound the fullness of this awesome word. “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” [Phil. 4:19]. The bible says if books had been written of all Jesus did, the world could not contain them. So in the depth of the bible are trillions of book. [John 21:25]. That’s why He told us to ask, knock and seek. Let’s open this verse just a little today.
My God: The God of this bible, not just any one’s god. This God Jehovah the creator of all Things, Lord of Lords and Master of all things. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, The Almighty. He is the supplier.
Shall Supply: Shall is a strong word. It means it will happen under His direction. That is if we do it His way. He does not break His rules. That would make Him a liar. We have to study His rules to know what they are. We might consider this if we are not getting our prayers answered. He is the supplier because everything belongs to Him. Every successful person, saved or unsaved has attained their success by the rules of God. Not everyone understands it but “What you sow you shall reap” [Gal 6:7].
All Your Needs: Now He said needs, not greed [Phil. 4:13]. He has a call on each of our lives. He equips us, He sets us in the body and makes us able. Our part is to make sure we are in the place He has set us. He told Elijah to go over to the river and the birds would feed him. If Elijah had gone anywhere else, He would not have had God’s provisions. The birds went where God said.
According To His Riches: Notice His, Yes His riches, not what we have worked for or have saved up. And this does not mean just money. His riches include salvation, healing, protection, peace, goodness, mercy and everything Jesus paid for on the cross. He paid for every promise in the bible. That does not mean we lay on the couch and watch Gunsmoke. He said “Those who don’t work don’t eat” That is one reason our nation is broke and deep in debt.
In Glory: Yes those riches that He has for you and me are stored and waiting for us to simply believe He will do what He says He will do. He said “ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” [2 Cor. 3:18]. Each time we receive some glorious thing from God, we then can believe more for the next Glorious thing. With each glory, we are transformed to be more like Him. We are created in His image and likeness. As we yield to Him, He is bringing us back to the image and likeness we had before Adam lost it.
By Christ Jesus: By is a lockitive word. The only way we can have all the benefits that Jesus provided for our future, is to be locked into Jesus. He said “I am the vine, and you are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me, you can do nothing. If a man abideth not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” [John 15:5-6]. So if we give ourselves to Him, trust in His abilities not ours, “He Will Supply.”
