DAR

  • The Nathaniel Davis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Jan. 13 at First Presbyterian Church. Regent Tracy Howard called the meeting to order and led the reciting of the ritual with the assistance of Chaplain Marcy Lamb. Members then read the American Creed, followed by pledges to the flags.

Howard presented the National Defense Report, reading about the Margaret Cochran Corbin Award and the Corbin Day Event; and the Indian Minute, which talked about the contribution of the Choctaw Indian Tribe during World War I. After the minutes of the last meeting were read, Debbie Gillen presented the treasurer’s report and Lisa Ulhorn gave the registrar’s report. It was noted that applications are still pending at National for Shelby Landgraf and Robin Edmondson McCarty. Chapter membership stands at 87.

Members discussed changes in national bylaws concerning DAR membership. Chapter bylaws will be updated to align with these changes. Members should submit their volunteer hours for 2017. Emails advising of meeting dates and any pertinent information are being sent to all members with email addresses. The next meeting has been scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 10. There will be a potluck luncheon and a silent auction.
