The City of Odessa Keep Odessa Beautiful department has been doing a fantastic job this year. Visiting their website and their online calendar of events, they are very active in the community and are serving our citizens well. One specific project I wanted to bring attention to is the Campus Cleanup Rivalry.
This is one of my favorite events KOB does. It is important to teach children from a young age to take care of our environment, and to show the community we live in the same love it shows us. I specifically enjoy this project because growing up here in Odessa, recycling is not as prominent as it is in larger cities. Growing up, I never encountered recycling and never really learned the importance of it. Showing our children from a young age that it is doable and beneficial makes our community better and more forward-thinking when it comes to our environment.
