LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Biden wrong on gun stance

In Biden’s speech Tuesday, about the Uvalde shooting, it only took him about three minutes to start blaming guns, and gun owners!

He started off strong, saying how horrible the shooting was, and how sorry people are, or should be. He offered prayers for the survivors, and thanked the first responders. And, then, started in on how America should stand up to the gun lobby. And, I thought, “yep, here we go!”

The “gun lobby” is the NRA, and not a single NRA member has ever committed a mass shooting, EVER! The Democrats absolutely cannot stand it that we have our right to bear arms, under the 2nd Amendment!

They want the people to be disarmed, because then they can control the people!

It is painfully obvious that the Democrats are not interested in crime control. If they were, then they would see to it that all Federal gun laws are enforced. Federal gun law makes it illegal for

18 year-olds to by handguns. Federal law also makes it illegal for felons, mentally deficient people, illegal aliens, and drug users to posses guns. Most state laws also have these same restrictions.

No one yet knows how this particular 18 year-old obtained his weapon(weapons), but he could not have purchased the pistol legally.

At age 18 he could have bought the rifle legally, but so far, it has not been determined how he acquired either weapon.

Of course, not knowing all of the facts has never stopped a Democrat from taking a stand on anything.

The bottom line is that no number of gun laws, of which there are already approximately 20,000 on the books, will stop someone who is going to commit a crime. The problem is with people, not guns, or the so-called “easy” availability of guns.

Criminals can actually get guns easier than someone can purchase on legally. Criminals steal theirs, or buy them from another criminal selling them illegally, or get them from someone who did buy it legally and then gave it to the criminal, which is also already illegal, called a “straw-man purchase.”

The point is that the existing laws should be enforced, rather than passing more ineffectual laws!
