LETTER TO THE EDITOR: We are all sick of local politics

I will be so glad when March 5th is in our rearview mirror and we can get back to the real issues of running this city and county. We should be more worried about our crumbling infrastructure, the loss of so many talented people in city government and not whether our local elected officials are republican or democrat. Frankly, I don’t care.

I’m more interested in the quality of life here, having enough police, fire, and sanitation workers; clean water, good streets, entertainment, art, jobs, and good food etc etc to enjoy rather than worrying whether or not my local officials are republicans or democrats! I was amused by Kris Crow and his letter carefully wordsmithing his comments and pointing out as triumphs activities that shouldn’t mean a thing to the average Odessan. Then there were the letters about him crashing a party for the opposition. I can attest that this is not the first time this has happened.

Listening and watching all this unfold leaves me soul sick. As a community, we should want and demand the very best from our elected officials and their party affiliation should be of secondary importance or not considered at all.
