LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Voters deserve the truth

Jeff Russell who runs the Facebook page Odessa Headlines posted an article with false information. And he included lies about me. I’m not a candidate and I will not sit back and let Jeff Russell slander me. I’m not writing this letter as a victim. Quite the opposite, I’m writing this letter because I’m brave enough to stand up for myself. And I want Ector County voters to know the truth!

Fortunately, I have receipts to prove Jeff Russell is being completely dishonest. And instead of letting me post my proof, Russell deletes my comments and blocks me from posting the truth on Odessa Headlines. When I reached out to Jeff, via a phone call and asked him to write a retraction, he replied, “I don’t believe we did anything wrong” and childishly hung up on me. Jeff apparently doesn’t think lying is wrong. Keep in mind Jeff Russell is running for precinct chair 312 and somehow Russell is currently Vice President of the esteemed ODC.

The article falsely claims I have connections to the Odessa American simply because of a comment I made regarding why a letter Tisha Crow submitted to the editor was rejected. The truth is, the Odessa American had previously commented on another Facebook page explaining why the letter was rejected. Basically, it was because Tisha tried to submit screenshots with her letter. The OA does not include pictures with letters to the editor…hence the word “letters”. So no, Jeff Russell, I do not have inside information. You are deliberately misleading voters. I have the screenshot to prove this. But Jeff doesn’t want voters to know the truth.

The article also misquoted me regarding a comment I made about open primaries. He tried to imply I was encouraging Democrats to cross party lines and vote in the primary. The article quoted me as saying open primaries “are beneficial”. My actual comment read, “it’s the benefit of living in an open primary state” and I continued with “in 2016, Ivanka and Eric Trump were not able to vote for President Trump in the primary because they weren’t registered Republicans. That wouldn’t happen in Texas”. Trying to mislead voters, Jeff?

Politics is dirty, but it’s even dirtier when you support candidates running against Crow/Joven/Russell. They create lies to confuse voters. They are sending out untruthful texts and call candidates trans, democrats, liberals and liars. Tisha Crow and some of her precinct chairs are at polling sites, intimidating voters and candidates. Falsely claiming they are the only Republicans running and calling Donna Kelm and candidates “Democrats”. I was told they are extremely aggressive at the Annex. Might be best to choose another location. Ronnie Lewis is campaigning at Elegante and having a blast. Positive energy and lots of fun!

I’m passionate about politics and I’m passionate about my hometown.

I was born and raised in Ector County. Graduated from Permian, taught school in Ector County and I own commercial real estate in Ector County. I care about my hometown. “I will always be “an Odessa girl” and proud of it!

I’m asking voters, if you went to school with me, if I taught your children, if you were one of my students, if you know my mother, Alma Bird, my brother, Ronnie Lewis, please vote for Donna Kelm and the precinct chairs brave enough to run against Crow and her precinct chairs. Precinct 312, please vote Billy Dubose JR. Precinct 3 vote for Don Stringer. Precinct 1 vote for Judge Chavez. Put an end to the Crow Cabal and the dangerous political rhetoric being spewed by the current Ector County Republican Party. Remember this is Ector County. Not Crow/Joven/Russell County.

To be clear the letter was written before Donna Kelm was assaulted. Keep Donna in your prayers. It’s more important than ever to vote for Kelm and the precinct chairs running to save Ector County.
