LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Local GOP needs to let voters decide

Recent Facebook posts and letters to the editor have been a real eye opener.

It seems as if about 20 people (precinct chairs) have the say as to who is in charge of the Ector County Republican Party. Unbelievable!

And of these 20 people only 2 of these precinct chairs have been elected by their constituents. The rest have been appointed by the County Chair’s executive board, which consists of the precinct chairs. Is your head spinning yet?

Tisha Crow, the Ector County Republican chair, has been in office for about 15 years.

From what I understand, she too was first appointed to the position. And has since only had one opponent. As a tax payer, and a concerned citizen, I should have a right to vote for County Chair.

I’ve researched the precinct chairs and have confirmed that several supported Casey Gray in the 2022 District 81 race against Brooks Landgraf. Apparently, we don’t have the same principles and integrity.

If the Ector County Executive Board believes in democracy, they will allow an opponent, any opponent.

If not, then I agree with a previous letter…there is no Ector County Republican Party. Instead, it is a small group of radical right Republicans that are led by a dictator, not a true elected county chair.

Tisha Crow do you believe in democracy or will you hide behind your appointed precinct chairs to avoid an opponent?
