LETTER TO THE EDITOR: ECRP allows citizens to vote

I have seen a few people send in letters to the paper stating that “It’s common knowledge that the Ector County Republican Party may opt out of a law that silences the voters”. I am not sure where this “common knowledge” is coming from, but I did do a little research and here is what I found:

Texas Election Code 172.021 (f) says, “A political party’s state executive committee by rule may require an application for the office of county chair be accompanied by a nominating petition containing the signatures of at least 10 percent of the incumbent precinct chairs serving on the county executive committee.” This is state law. This was voted into law by our state representatives and state senators.

Why would the legislature even put this law into the election code? Have you ever heard the name Robert Murrow? You should google it. Robert is the former chairman of the Republican Party of Travis County in the primary election held on March 1, 2016. Morrow considered himself a political liberal that campaigned against George Herbert Walker Bush, called former Governor Rick Perry a “rampaging bisexual adulterer”, and says that the majority of the Bush family should be in jail. In my opinion, he was most certainly a Democrat Operative that worked as a wolf in sheep’s clothing to get elected as the Travis County GOP chair. Morrow admitted that he supports abortion and is strongly opposed to Israel. Morrow was known to be a sexist, with racist tweets and was frequently seen campaigning while waring a “jester’s” hat and holding a large sign that read, “Trump is a child rapist”.

What is “common knowledge” is that in a state like Texas that is 70+% Republican, it is very hard for Democrats to get elected. It is also “common knowledge” that these democrat operatives will do anything to Trojan Horse their way into a political position in Texas.

Do you remember Ryan Patton? Ryan ran in the last primary election for County Commissioner against our very own Greg Simmons. In checking Mr Patton’s voting history, it was learned that Ryan had voted as a Democrat in every election since he turned 18 years old. However, now miraculously he has seen the light and is a Christian conservative Republican! After the ECRP highlighted this “discrepancy” in his claims, Ryan and his husband moved to another state.

What is a fact, is that Democrats and Democrat operatives are working to infiltrate the Republican party.

Republican Party of Texas Rule No. 8A – Petition for County Chairman in Certain Counties says, “Persons filing for the office of County Chairman in a county with a minimum of eight (8) incumbent precinct chairmen shall (not an option.. this was ruled by the SREC) include a nominating petition containing the signatures of at least 10 percent of the incumbent precinct chairs serving on the County Executive Committee, or two (2)- whichever is greater, using a form promulgated by the Republican Party of Texas. “

Now the part that Ronnie Lewis and his democrat operative minions keep highlighting… “Any county executive committee of a county with a population of fewer than 300,000, may (this is an option), by majority vote, opt out of this requirement.”

Let me ask you this… While knowing that Democrats and their operatives are working to slither their way into Republican positions, and knowing that the state legislature, and the Republican Party of Texas created this law and this rule to keep these wolves out…. Why on earth would the ECRP vote to opt out of this requirement? In addition… knowing that no one has put forward a name for a candidate to run for the ECRP Chairman position, but only say, “yall should let someone run!”, I ask again… Why would they opt out? Ronnie Lewis has said publicly that he is not running for the Chair position, but he knows who will. What’s the big secret?

I personally think that Tisha Crow has done an amazing job as County Chair. As Mr Luscombe said in his letter, the ECRP is in a better position in almost every way since Tisha has been the chair. We need someone like her that is willing to educate and train our volunteers, has the ability to raise contributions, and is willing to organize and block walk for our candidates. We need someone that is involved and is willing to hold our officials accountable.

Odessa citizens…. Don’t fall for these snake oil salesmen that are trying to infiltrate our Republican Party. Trust that legislators like Brooks Landgraf and Kevin Sparks pass these laws and that the Republican Party of Texas creates rules to oust these democrat operatives! As Mr Luscombe said, “Quit being a keyboard warrior and relying on Facebook for your information! Get involved! Do your own research!” Find the facts, and quit believing what these wolves in sheep’s clothing are telling you!
