Water Well Sink Hole South of Imperial

Photos of a sink hole caused by an improperly plugged water well by the Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District and the Odessa District of the Texas Department of Transportation next to Farm to Market Road 1053 causes the road to dip as well as forms crevices around the area approximately 5 miles south of Imperial. Land owner Schuyler Wright gave a short tour around his land to show how the landscape has been affected. The 2,800-foot-deep water well whose casing fell in, causing it to wash out salt water over a wide area and create a 90-foot-deep, quarter mile-wide sinkhole running under FM 1053.
