For the seventh year, Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis and Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke rang the Salvation Army bell on Saturday morning at the Walmart, 4210 JBS Parkway. Visitors at the local store were also able to take a photo with Chase the Dog from Paw Patrol. The mascot was there as part of the Salvation Army bell ringing contest between Gerke and Griffis.
According to the Odessa Salvation Army’s Major Luis Melendez, the bell ringing challenge was very close between the two community leaders. The totals are posted below:
Sheriff Mike Griffis = $568.01
Chief Michael Gerke = $530.32
The total collection was $1,098.33
