ECISD annual High School Art Show

ECISD held its annual High School Art Show March 28 at Odessa College to recognize outstanding art students from across ECISD schools.

The school district is grateful to have Odessa College host this year’s Art Show at Sedate Hall. The high school show ended with numerous ribbon winners as well as 2 best of show winners, both from Permian High School. The recognition went to Yaretzi Barrera for 2D best of show a student of Mrs LaRee Morris and Alexis Knight for 3D best of show a Student of Carlos Trejo.

ECISD middle schools held their show March 18. Best of show winners from that show are Jaime Holguin who is in 8th at Bonham Middle School from Jorge Avena’s class and best of show in 3D is Bella Harvey 7th grader from Wilson & Young Middle School in Susana Strickling’s class.

The Visual Arts Department has been super busy this last month coordinating various competitions. High School State VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) for Region 18, was held on March 2nd at Permian High School with over 600 participants from all around Region 18. Middle School VASE was held this past weekend on March 30 with over 150 participants.

VASE is an art program that recognizes exemplary student achievement in the visual arts and it also provides art students and programs a standard of excellence to follow. High School students have the opportunity to compete in an effort to participate at the state level. This year, ECISD is proud to participate at the state level with 15 competitors at the state event. Students have the opportunity to receive a state medal or a Gold Seal. The Gold Seal recognition represents the pinnacle of artistic success in the VASE program. ECISD has received a gold seal for the past 2 years in a row.

The ECISD Visual Arts Department will end the year with an AP, IB, and Honors classes show along with a senior show for outstanding seniors to display their work.
