A 47-year-old Odessa woman hurt her head and back Monday after she ended up in the back of a garbage truck while dumpster diving.
According to an Odessa Police Department report, the woman was digging through a dumpster around 6 a.m. in the 500 block of West 42nd Street when a garbage truck came and picked up the dumpster. She wasn’t discovered for two hours.
Odessa Fire Rescue Chief John Alvarez said the injuries were minor.
Her experience caused a stir on Facebook when someone erroneously reported a body had been found in a dumpster at the landfill.
OPD would like to remind citizens that city ordinances make it illegal to dumpster dive.
