Woman charged with pointing gun at neighbors

A 30-year-old woman was arrested after police say she pointed a handgun at her neighbors and told them to stop being loud.

Keandra Monet Tyler, 30, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

The reported assault happened Feb. 6 at the Golden Crest Apartment Homes located at 3939 Tanglewood Lane, an Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit stated.

Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex in reference to a disturbance in which the victim stated Tyler pointed a gun at them. Officers made contact with the victims identified as Corin Mathews and his wife Leslie Munoz.

Mathews told officers that he and his wife got into an argument with their neighbors. Mathews stated Tyler came out of her apartment and pointed a gun at him and his wife and told them to stop being loud.

The probable cause affidavit detailed that when Mathews and Munoz got home to their apartment that they had a note from their downstairs neighbor (Tyler) complaining about an Odessa Police Department report and asked they be more quiet.

Mathews told police he got into an argument with a man who lives in the apartment below them over the note. Mathews said Tyler came out of the apartment and pointed a black and purple gun at him and his wife and told them to be more quiet.

Mathews stated he and his wife were in fear for their lives and called the police, the affidavit stated. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspects in the apartment but no one answered the door.

On Feb. 7, officers contacted Tyler in her vehicle in her apartment complex and asked her about the incident, the affidavit stated. Tyler stated she did get in an argument with the neighbors but she didn’t point a gun at anyone.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Tyler’s apartment and found a black and purple Taurus handgun, which was consistent with the description given by Mathews.

Tyler was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Feb. 7, jail records show. She had one bond totaling $25,000 and posted bail on Feb. 8.
