To listen and connect to the communities they serve, representatives of the College of Education at Texas Tech University, home of the West Texas Rural Education Partnership (WTREP), have launched a series of listening sessions from October through December.
The WTREP will have listening sessions throughout the state.
There will be one at the Region 18 Education Service Center at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
The goal of these listening sessions is to gain stakeholder feedback from every rural Texas school district west of Interstate 35 by hosting these open sessions primarily at centrally located ESCs. WTREP seeks to hear from a wide cross section of the population to answer the key question, “What do you need to better serve your students?”
The WTREP seeks to address the shortage of qualified teachers across West Texas by preparing more than 200 new teachers annually through interorganizational systems consisting of three universities, nine community colleges and 45 rural districts, all focused on addressing the teacher-talent needs of rural schools in this region.
