Theater and Choir Camps

Experience the rhythm of summer at UTPB! Join now for an unforgettable journey where aspiring musicians and actors of all ages and skill levels gather to hone their talents. UTPB provides a variety of fine art camps including Choir and Theater camps.

High School Theater “Audition Like the Pros!”

  • Age Range: High School (entering 9th grade).
  • When: June 3-7.
  • Where: Wagner Noël PAC, 1310 Farm to Market 1788, Midland.

Elementary Theater Camp

  • Age Range: Entering 4th grade through 8th grade.
  • When: July 8-12.
  • Where: CEED Building, North, 1310 FM1788, Midland.

Large School Choir Camp

  • Age Range: 14-18.
  • When: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., July 10-12.
  • Where: Wagner Noël Academic Wing & Engineering Building Classrooms, 1310 Farm to Market 1788, Midland.
  • Registration Fee: $150.
  • Description: The UTPB “Large School Choir Camp” is a three-day camp for students in Texas 5A-6A high schools who intend to audition for all-region and all-state choir. Students will work in sectionals and in full choir rehearsals to be introduced to the selected audition repertoire for the TMEA 24-25 all-state choir. Get a head start on preparing for a successful all-region audition by attending this fun and informative experience. Students will work with qualified faculty and local choir directors from our many successful choir programs.

Engineering Camps

UNITE/AEOP – Army Summer Camp (Engineering)

  • Age Range: 9th – 12th Grade.
  • When: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., June 17 – July 12.
  • Where: 1st floor of Engineering Building.
  • Registration Fee: None.
  • Description: UNITE is a four-week, pre-collegiate summer experience for talented high school students. Hosted by The University of Texas Permian Basin, College of Engineering. UNITE encourages students to pursue college majors and careers in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related fields through a program of focused, hands-on, rigorous academics, enrichment, and career exploration.

Benefits of Participation

  • Gain confidence in your ability to participate in STEM activities.
  • Collaborate and solve problems as a team.
  • Learn firsthand from college students and professionals how engaging STEM studies and careers can be.
  • Prepare to pursue STEM majors in college and, ultimately, in future careers.
  • $100 stipend to each participant.

Additional Information

  • Student must first enroll with UNITE and be “approved,” then they will receive a confirmation number. That confirmation number is needed to enroll for the camp with UTPB.

ExxonMobil Engineering Summer Camp – Middle School

  • Age Range: 6th – 8th Grade.
  • When: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., June 17-21.
  • Where: Engineering Building, 11105 Texas 191, Midland.
  • Registration Fee: $295.
  • Description: Calling all Middle School students! Join us in person for an amazing hands-on experience! Solar Power; Wind Power; Gears, Pulleys, & Belt Drives; Newton’s Law; Reactor Simulation and Stirling Engine; Geology; Biological Science; Reaction of Chemicals w/Visual Changes; Materials Modeling; Design Using Engineering Graphics.

Boys Basketball Camp

  • Age Range: 2nd – 9th grade.
  • When: 9:00 a.m. – noon, 2nd – 5th grade; 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., 6th – 9th grade; June 17-19.
  • Registration Fee: $100.
  • Description: Skills development and skills competition, fundamentals instruction, and sports specific drills and development.

Girl’s Basketball Middle School Camp

  • Age Range: 6th – 8th grade.
  • When: 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., May 19.

  • Description: Instructional camp for middle school athletes.

Girl’s Basketball Youth Camp

  • Age Range: 2nd – 5th grade.
  • When: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 2nd – 3rd grade, 12:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. 4th – 5th grade, June 14.
  • Where: UTPB Gym, 4011 Preston Smith Road.
  • Registration Fee: $40
  • Description: Help improve fundamentals and footwork through drills, skills development, passing, shooting, lay-up drills, and live play competitions.

UTPB Summer Maker Camp Session A

  • Age Range: 6th – 12th grade.

  • Where: Innovation Lab Makerspace in the Dunagan Library, 4901 E University Blvd.
  • Registration Fee: $300.
  • Description: This camp is very hands on, and all campers will get experience working with 3D printers, 3D scanners, laser cutter/engravers, vinyl/paper cutters, heat presses, embroidery machines, and a variety of other makerspace equipment. For a description of the equipment available in the makerspace, please visit utpb.edu/makerspace. All campers will be trained and supervised to ensure safety. Campers will also learn how designing and making contributes to entrepreneurship and learn about how to market and sell the things they make in camp.

All youth programs involving minors at The University of Texas Permian Basin follow the Youth Protection Program (YPP) guidelines. The purpose of the YPP is to promote the safety of minors participating in programs on University premises or participation in those programs sponsored or supported by the University. All programs work closely with the YPP Director to ensure that every program operates in accordance with all of the University’s policies, rules, and regulations, as well as the laws of The State of Texas regarding the safety of minors.
