Two men killed in separate wrecks

Two local men have died in recent days as a result of separate accidents, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On Thursday, witnesses told DPS Odessa resident Alexis Hernandez Rodriguez, 28, was driving a Yamaha ATV on an unimproved dirt shoulder of Flamingo Circle when the vehicle began fishtailing and then drove into some brush. Rodriguez was thrown from the ATV when it hit a wire fence and rolled.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Medical Center Hospital about 45 minutes later.

According to DPS, Abel Ponce of Midland died at Midland Memorial Hospital Monday, 15 days after he struck a dog while riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle near Loop 250 and CR 1150.
