Tinder meeting leads to robbery

An Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit detailed a 20-year-old woman was arrested after she and two unidentified men robbed a man at gunpoint.

Kiysah Blakey was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and failure to identify fugitive with intent to give false information, a class A misdemeanor. She was also charged with failure to appear for charges of theft of property, a class B misdemeanor, and false report or statement to officer or agent, a class B misdemeanor.

The aggravated robbery was reported at 4:08 a.m. March 5 at the Motel 6 located at 200 Interstate 20 Service Road, the affidavit stated. The victim, identified as Carlos Braeckow, stated a black female known to him as Kayla and several other men had robbed him.

Braeckow told police he was contacted by Kayla from Tinder. Kayla had asked Braeckow to come to the Motel 6 as she stated she was staying with her kids and friend in another room and that Braeckow should get a room.

Braeckow booked room 226 at the Motel 6, the affidavit stated. Kayla stated she needed to check on her kids and opened the door. Once Kayla opened the room door, two Black men entered the room. One placed a handgun against Braeckow’s head.

The men demanded Braeckow to cash app $500 to Kayla, the affidavit stated. The men took $80 from Braeckow’s wallet and Braeckow’s phone. Braeckow’s phone was described as an Apple iPhone Pro Max with a blue case.

A Motel 6 employee told police the subjects in room 220 matched the description provided by Braeckow.

Officers contacted room 220 and spoke with a woman, who self-identified as Amya Jordan, the affidavit detailed. Jordan stated she had no identification. She also stated she was staying in the motel with her kids and a man only known as “Z”.

While officers were contacting Braeckow, officers heard a phone alarm coming from Uncle’s Store parking lot located next to the Motel 6, the affidavit stated. The phone matched Braeckow’s phone. Braeckow confirmed the phone was his with facial recognition.

Braeckow showed officers his cash app that he made two payments to a K Baby, $Kisahhh, the affidavit detailed. The phone on the account showed Jordan from room 220. The app also showed the payments were for $200 and $300 for a total of $500.

Jordan was confronted with the information and then was read her Miranda warning, the affidavit stated. She stated she understood her rights and didn’t wish to speak. Jordan then began to make statements.

Jordan stated she lied and her name was Blakey, the affidavit stated. Blakey further stated she needed the money, she was living with a stranger and that they made her do it. Blakey further stated she messed up, but she wouldn’t identify the other subjects.

Blakey was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on March 5, jail records show. She has four bonds totaling $61,500 and was still in custody as of Friday morning.
